Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan Discuss Bilateral Cooperation on Afghanistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 3 February, Ismatulla Irgashev, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, held a meeting with Beybut Atamkulov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan.
During the talks, the parties discussed the current state of bilateral cooperation on Afghan-related issues.
Both sides emphasized their mutual interest in maintaining regular dialogue on the Afghan settlement process.
Beybut Atamkulov highly appreciated Uzbekistan’s efforts in shaping a consolidated regional position regarding Afghanistan.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on prospects for involving Afghanistan in regional connectivity initiatives, including the implementation of the Trans-Afghan Railway project.
The negotiations were held in a constructive atmosphere and confirmed the readiness of both sides to continue developing practical dialogue between Tashkent and Astana.
