Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  Continuing the business program of his official visit to Tokyo, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Nobumitsu Hayashi, Managing Director of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).

The meeting focused on further expanding strategic partnership with the leading Japanese financial institution. The positive momentum of collaboration in recent years was highlighted: the bank’s total project portfolio in Uzbekistan has exceeded US$5 billion, covering petrochemicals, energy, telecommunications, infrastructure, light industry, and other priority sectors.

Special attention was given to the careful preparation of new projects and increasing the effectiveness of already launched initiatives worth over US$10 billion in energy, transport, IT infrastructure, healthcare system modernization, and other key sectors. The importance of expanding investments in public-private partnership projects in the social sphere and supporting private sector development was emphasized.

JBIC Managing Director Nobumitsu Hayashi praised the results of the partnership and expressed support for the large-scale reform program being implemented in the New Uzbekistan.
