Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 24 December 2025, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Nuriddin Ismoilov received Kenji Hirata, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, it was noted that high-level contacts have intensified in recent years, and, thanks to the efforts of the heads of state, bilateral cooperation has reached a qualitatively new level.

The Japanese ambassador highly praised the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan and emphasized that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s official visit to Japan on 18–20 December added a new dimension to the countries’ multilateral relations.

He noted Japan’s interest in seeing Uzbekistan as a stable strategic partner in the region.

Kenji Hirata also highlighted the success of the President’s visit, stressing that the proposals put forward by Uzbekistan’s leader at the first “Central Asia + Japan” summit are important for the region’s stable development.

The discussion addressed strengthening cooperation between legislative bodies, enhancing the role of parliamentary friendship groups, exchanging experiences in lawmaking, and expanding interaction between parliamentary committees.

The meeting was held in a friendly and constructive atmosphere, the parties noted.
