Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 17 June, in Tashkent, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Uzbekistan Mr. Yoshinori Fujiyama and the Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr. Alisher Shadmanov, signed Exchange Notes on the provision of gratuitous assistance under the “Project for Economic and Social Development”, which provides for the provision of medical equipment in the total amount of 500 million yen (approximately US$4.6 million).
Today, in the context of growing globalization in the movement of people and goods, the worldwide spread of the new coronavirus infection poses a serious threat to the economies and societies of all countries, including Japan, so the international community must join forces in the fight against the pandemic. From this point of view, strengthening support measures aimed at strengthening the sphere of health care and the medical system in the international community is important not only for individual countries, but also for the development of Japan.
The project envisages the provision to the relevant medical institutions of the country of the most advanced medical equipment in the world, such as scanners for computed tomography, medical containers, which can be called a kind of small clinics and more. This will greatly contribute to counteracting the spread of infectious diseases and strengthening the country's health and medical system.
Thanks to this project, Japan intends to make a feasible contribution to ensuring the speedy stabilization of the situation with coronavirus infection, as well as significantly improve the quality of medical services in the republic. It is expected that this support will give a new impetus to the expansion of bilateral relations, which was facilitated by the visit of President Mirziyoyev to Japan last December.
