Uzbekistan and Japan Sign Agreements to Boost Agricultural Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During the official visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Japan, Uzbekistan and Japan reached a series of significant agreements in the field of agriculture, taking bilateral relations to a new, practical level.
Particular attention was given to the signing of a bilateral agreement between the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan. The agreement establishes a solid legal framework for the exchange of advanced expertise, the implementation of modern technologies, and the development of scientific cooperation in the agricultural sector.
Additionally, several projects were signed with leading Japanese government, scientific, and private organizations. Aglis Co., Ltd. signed an agreement to cultivate kiwi in the Syrdarya region and export it to the Japanese market. Fairness Group will provide training in the Japanese language for Uzbek specialists and organize their internships in Japan to enhance professional skills.
Agreements were also reached with TAKII & Co., Ltd. on seed production of Japanese onion varieties in the Ferghana region and with Masui Co., Ltd. on the introduction of innovative agricultural technologies.
A key focus area is cooperation in science and innovation. Joint projects with the Biotechnology Center of Nagoya University and the National Institute of Genetics will focus on crop selection under drought and water scarcity conditions, as well as conducting collaborative research initiatives.
The signed agreements open new opportunities for applying modern agricultural approaches in Uzbekistan, enhancing scientific potential, expanding export markets, and strengthening long-term strategic partnership with Japan.
