Uzbekistan and Japan Discuss Expansion of Economic Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 22 November, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, held a meeting with Japan’s new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Uzbekistan, Kenji Hirata, who assumed office in October 2025.
The two sides noted the steady development of Uzbek–Japanese relations and reaffirmed their mutual interest in further expanding cooperation in trade, economic affairs and investment.
During the talks, they highlighted the positive dynamics of bilateral trade and the growth of Japanese investment in Uzbekistan’s economy.
Particular attention was given to the active involvement of Japanese companies in major projects in healthcare, transport, infrastructure, energy and information and communication technologies.
Key initiatives include the construction of modern medical facilities, development of transport infrastructure, modernization of the telecommunications network, and the creation of solar and wind power plants with a total capacity of 2,500 MW.
The parties also discussed preparations for upcoming bilateral events within the framework of the “Central Asia + Japan” Summit scheduled for the end of this year.
