Uzbekistan and Japan Agree to Develop Joint Pharmaceutical Projects
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 4 November 2025, the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with a Japanese delegation aimed at studying the pharmaceutical market in Uzbekistan and discussing opportunities for implementing joint promising projects.
The delegation included representatives of the Pharmaceutical Cooperative Union in Nara and leading Japanese companies, including Shinsei Pharmaceutical Industry Co., Ltd., Daibutsudo Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., SATO YAKUHIN KOGYO Co., Ltd., TAMURA PHARMACEUTICAL CO., LTD., and Yamato Godo Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.
During the talks with the agency’s director, Abdulla Azizov, the parties discussed reforms in Uzbekistan’s pharmaceutical sector, increasing the export of domestic medicines, and reducing dependence on imports. They also highlighted the importance of involving foreign partners not only in production but also in product distribution.
The meeting was held in a businesslike and constructive atmosphere, and the parties agreed to further develop practical cooperation.
