Uzbekistan and Ivanovo region establish cooperation ties in the textile industry

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 22 July, the Association "Uztextileprom" hosted a meeting with a delegation of the Government of Ivanovo region, headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Government of Ivanovo region Lyudmila Dmitrieva.

During the talks, issues of implementation of points of the bilateral agreement were discussed, in particular the creation of a logistics hub-textile and logistics center in Ivanovo region. It was noted that in January-June 2019, Uzbekistan exported textile products to Ivanovo region for US$86 million.

In particular, the establishment of a logistics hub of a textile and logistics center in Ivanovo region envisages the organization of a warehouse complex for storing and distributing cotton yarn, cotton fiber, and harsh fabrics for subsequent processing at textile enterprises in the region and for shipping goods to textile and clothing enterprises in the region.

Following the talks, the parties agreed on the implementation of new directions, including in the area of establishing cooperation ties. The sides particularly highlighted areas such as the creation of joint ventures, the development of cotton-textile clusters, the expansion of trade.

At the same time, the leadership of the Uztextileprom Association invited representatives of the government and business of Ivanovo region to take part in the Global Textile Days Tashkent 2019 events, which were held from 10 to 14 September 2019 in Tashkent.

According to the “roadmap” for the implementation of the agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan on cooperation in the textile and garment and knitwear industries from 30 May, the parties agreed to consolidate and ensure the commodity flows of textile semi-finished and finished textile products from Uzbekistan, including in the framework of the creation of logistics centers in Ivanovo regions and other regions of the Russian Federation.
