Uzbekistan and Italy Sign Memorandum on Agri-Insurance
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of the business forum “Italy – Central Asia (C5) + Azerbaijan” in Tashkent, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Agriculture, Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov, met with representatives of the Italian Agency for Agricultural Payments (AGEA), including leaders of the Agricultural Insurance Fund and the Payments Agency in the agricultural sector.
The parties discussed the development of bilateral cooperation, the introduction of modern management practices in agriculture, and strengthening institutional capacity.
Following the talks, a memorandum was signed, marking a new phase of collaboration and laying the foundation for improving agri-insurance and subsidy systems. The document provides for studying and applying advanced international experience, implementing modern management approaches, digitizing processes, and developing platforms for managing agricultural payments.
The cooperation framework includes analyzing existing agri-insurance and subsidy mechanisms and developing a modern institutional model based on European, particularly Italian, practices.
International experts will participate in online consultations twice a month to ensure concrete results across all areas of collaboration.
Both sides emphasized that the partnership is systemic in nature and aims at the sustainable development of Uzbekistan’s agricultural sector through the application of advanced technologies and standards.
