Uzbekistan and Iran Discuss Expanding Trade and Economic Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 10 November, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, held talks with Mohammad Atabak, Minister of Industry, Mines, and Trade of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The parties discussed prospects for expanding trade and economic cooperation, implementing joint projects, and strengthening mutually beneficial partnerships.

Particular attention was given to fostering collaboration in energy, transport, logistics, pharmaceuticals, and tourism. Practical initiatives were considered for establishing joint production facilities and promoting products in regional markets.

Following the negotiations, it was noted that bilateral trade between Uzbekistan and Iran amounted to 500 million dollars in 2024. As of 1 September 2025, 222 enterprises with Iranian capital are registered in Uzbekistan, implementing projects in construction, transport, and pharmaceutical sectors.

The meeting took place in a constructive atmosphere and marked another step toward further strengthening economic ties and deepening practical cooperation between the two countries.
