Uzbekistan and Intertek agree on cooperation in standardization
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has reached an agreement on cooperation in standardization with the British company Intertek Group plc, according to the Dunyo news agency.
The negotiation process took place in two stages. In January, Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Ravshan Usmanov, discussed product certification, packaging, and labeling with Intertek CEO Irina Berenwald. Berenwald positively assessed her visit to Uzbekistan in 2024 and expressed interest in further collaboration.
The next round of talks was held online on 15 February, with the participation of Uzbekistan’s Agency for Technical Regulation under the Cabinet of Ministers ("Uzstandard") and Intertek’s leadership. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to long-term cooperation aimed at implementing international standards.
As part of the agreement, regular consultations will continue to align international standards with Uzbekistan’s export requirements. This initiative is expected to enhance the competitiveness of local products and create favorable conditions for expanding export supplies.
