Uzbekistan and Indonesia Sign Memorandum of Cooperation in the Pharmaceutical Sector
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Alisher Temirov, Director of the Pharmaceutical Product Safety Center under the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, held an online meeting with Taruna Ikrar, Head of the Indonesian Food and Drug Control Agency, the Dunyo News Agency reports.
During the discussions, the parties reviewed the achievements of their countries in the pharmaceutical sector, new approaches to quality control of medicines and medical devices, metrology, and prospects for further cooperation.
Taruna Ikrar emphasized the Indonesian government’s interest in expanding collaboration with Uzbekistan, noting the country’s historical significance as the homeland of the great scholar Ibn Sina. The Indonesian official also highlighted the potential for joint programs, knowledge exchange, and strengthening professional ties in the pharmaceutical industry.
The meeting resulted in an agreement to cooperate in the certification of medicines and medical devices produced in both countries. The parties intend to establish regular information exchange on current standards and requirements, share expertise in product safety control, and organize professional development for specialists.
Additionally, the activities of the Indonesian Food and Drug Control Agency were presented, including its system for product control and licensing. It was noted that deepening cooperation between the agencies would create opportunities for projects to build modern pharmaceutical enterprises focused on producing medicines in demand on the global market.
The online meeting concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Pharmaceutical Product Safety Center of Uzbekistan and the Indonesian Food and Drug Control Agency, marking a new chapter in bilateral collaboration in the pharmaceutical sector.
