Uzbekistan and Indonesia hold political consultations
The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, the sides considered current state and perspectives of bilateral cooperation in politics, trade-economic, investment and cultural-humanitarian spheres, as well as interaction within the UN and other international organizations.
It was underlined that regular political dialogue stimulates implementation of fundamental principles of interaction between two states, which were laid during exchange of high level visits in 1992 and 1995.
It was stated that currently there are all preconditions for boosting mutual beneficial cooperation, first of all solid legal base and joint institutional mechanisms as inter-parliamentary contacts and consultations between Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and Indonesia.
The sides expressed mutual interest in strengthening cooperation in such areas as production of electrotechnical, cable-wire and footwear products, chemical goods and fertilizers, agriculture equipment, textile and silk products, plastics and processing fruits and vegetables.
On the request of partners, the Uzbek delegation familiarized Indonesian side on potential and preferences offered to foreign investors in free industrial and economic zone Navoi, special industrial zones Angren and Jizzakh.
On 101-2 March, the delegation of Uzbekistan met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia Marty Natalegawa, Deputy Minister of Trade of Indonesia Bayu Krisnamurthi, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sapta Nirwandar, director for planning of investments and risks management of Pertamina Afdal Bahaudin, as well as heads of several companies. The sides considered issues of expending Uzbek-Indonesian cooperation in various areas.
The Uzbek delegation also visited headquarters of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Jakarta and held negotiations with its Secretary-General Le Luong Minh on perspectives of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Association.
