Uzbekistan and India Strengthen Pharma Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 24 March 2026, the India–Uzbekistan Pharma Business Meet was held in Tashkent, focusing on expanding international cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector. The event brought together leading Indian pharmaceutical companies and representatives of the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil).
India’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Uzbekistan, Smita Pant, and Pharmexcil Director General Raja Bhanu took part in the meeting, highlighting the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation, exchanging expertise, and implementing joint projects.
From the Uzbek side, Abdulla Azizov, Director of the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency, presented the country’s investment and industrial potential. Particular emphasis was placed on opportunities for production localization, the transfer of advanced technologies, and access to Central Asian markets.
The strategic role of the Tashkent Pharma Park (Bio Pharma City) cluster was also highlighted as a platform for attracting investment, establishing production facilities, and implementing innovative pharmaceutical projects.
Following the meeting, both sides confirmed their readiness to further deepen cooperation and agreed to continue dialogue to implement promising projects aimed at developing the pharmaceutical sector and expanding the international presence of companies from both countries.
