The commission considered and adopted joint decisions on further expanding trade relations, implementation of concrete investment projects in pharmaceuticals, textile and leather industries, expanding scientific-technical relations, cooperation in information-communication technologies, tourism, healthcare and education spheres, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade of Uzbekistan said.
During the Business Forum with leading Indian companies, presentations of investment potential of Uzbekistan and perspective projects of cooperation in pharmaceutical and textile industries, ICT, tourism and other mutual directions were held. The Uzbek and Indian companies also held negotiations.
At the end of the event, a protocol of the session of the intergovernmental commission and an agreement of cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and Federation on export-oriented enterprises of India were signed.
India is one of important economic partners of Uzbekistan in the region. Last year, trade turnover between two nations rose by 29% to US$259.5 million.
The volume of Indian investments into economy of Uzbekistan made up about US$77 million in last test years. There are 65 enterprises with Indian capital in Uzbekistan and 19 companies from India have accredited their offices in Uzbekistan.
