Uzbekistan and India discuss security issues
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 24 September, consultations between the offices of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the secretariat of the National Security Council of the Republic of India took place in Tashkent.
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Narendra Modi, have laid a solid foundation for comprehensively deepening interstate ties. This allowed both parties to work more closely to counter common security challenges and threats at the international level.
The parties reaffirmed their commitment to expanding both bilateral and multilateral cooperation in countering the growing threats caused by international terrorism and extremism, separatism, transnational organized crime, drug trafficking and others.
The importance of consultations in ensuring regional security, stability and sustainable development of the countries of Central and South Asia was emphasized.
The consultations addressed issues of further improving cooperation in the field of information security, military and military-technical, in the fight against transnational organized crime in the field of drug trafficking and human trafficking, as well as ensuring security in Central and South Asia in the context of the current situation in Afghanistan. It was noted that it is necessary to maintain the dynamics of the relationship and use the unrealized potential.
As a result of the meeting, a Protocol of bilateral consultations was signed between the apparatus of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the secretariat of the National Security Council of the Republic of India, providing for specific measures to further deepen and expand cooperation in the field of security.
