Uzbekistan and India discuss cooperation in the field of peaceful nuclear energy
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ambassador of the Republic of India to the Republic of Uzbekistan Vinod Kumar held a meeting at the Uzatom Agency on 13 December 2018.
The parties discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of nuclear energy, including the possibility of attracting Indian companies as consultants in the implementation of the project to build a nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan.
They also discussed cooperation in the non-energy use of nuclear technologies, such as radiopharmacology, X-ray diagnostics and radiation therapy, as well as in the production and processing of agricultural products.
As Vinod Kumar said, in order to implement such cooperation, it is possible to use the credit line allocated by India to Uzbekistan following the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to India.
As part of this credit line, it is possible to supply diagnostic and therapeutic equipment for treating cancer patients, as well as equipment for processing agricultural products, which will improve the quality of products and increase export opportunities.
An agreement was reached on the provision of more detailed data and elaboration of issues with relevant departments. The Indian side also proposed to establish direct dialogue and cooperation with the Department of Atomic Energy of India.
