Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Director of the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Azizov, held a virtual meeting with the leadership of the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB).

The discussions focused on the development of the biotechnology sector in Uzbekistan, strengthening scientific capacity, and expanding international cooperation.

ICGEB representatives provided information about the Centre’s research activities, its membership system, grant programs for scientific projects, as well as scholarships and professional development courses.

During the meeting, the Director of the Agency proposed the establishment of a research laboratory in Uzbekistan in collaboration with ICGEB. The parties also discussed measures to encourage the participation of Uzbek researchers in international biotechnology projects, enhance scientific capabilities, and improve personnel training.

Following the talks, the two sides agreed to establish mutually beneficial cooperation, ensure Uzbekistan’s involvement in ICGEB’s activities and programs, and jointly develop and implement scientific projects.
