 
                            
                                Uzbekistan and Germany Strengthen Interparliamentary Dialogue
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 31 October, Abdulhakim Eshmuratov, Chairman of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis on Judicial and Legal Affairs and Anti-Corruption, met with a delegation led by Carsten Müller, Chairman of the Legal Affairs and Consumer Protection Committee of the Bundestag of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The parties discussed prospects for further development of interparliamentary relations between Uzbekistan and Germany, as well as expanding cooperation in building a rule-of-law state and strengthening civil society institutions.
The guests were briefed on the large-scale reforms implemented in Uzbekistan in recent years in the areas of judicial and legal systems, anti-corruption efforts, and the protection of human rights and freedoms. It was noted that consistent measures are being taken in the country to form a fair judicial system, strengthen guarantees of citizens’ legitimate interests, enhance public oversight, and improve legislation in line with international standards.
Carsten Müller, in turn, spoke about legislative initiatives pursued by the German parliament in the fields of law and consumer protection, and praised Uzbekistan’s ongoing reforms, emphasizing their systematic nature and the openness of the government’s policies.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed their readiness to continue developing interparliamentary dialogue, strengthen cooperation between relevant committees, and exchange experience in the field of lawmaking.
