Uzbekistan and Germany Sign Declaration on Legal Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Minister of Justice of Uzbekistan, Akbar Tashkulov, held a bilateral meeting with a delegation led by Carsten Müller, Chairman of the Bundestag Committee on Justice and Consumer Protection of Germany.

During the meeting, the minister provided detailed information about the tasks and functions of the Ministry, as well as reforms implemented in recent years, including the digitalization of the justice system and the introduction of the LexAI artificial intelligence platform.

He highlighted fruitful cooperation with the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ) and the implementation of large-scale initiatives to systematize the national legislative framework within the framework of the EU TWINNING project.

Carsten Müller highly appreciated Uzbekistan’s efforts in judicial and legal reform and expressed interest in the system of free legal assistance provided to the population at the state’s expense.

The Ministry of Justice, together with the NGO “Madad,” launched the legal information portal Advice.uz (e-maslahat.uz), through which citizens of Uzbekistan, foreign nationals, and stateless persons can receive free legal consultations online.

The meeting also highlighted the signing of a Joint Declaration on Legal Cooperation with the German Ministry of Justice.

The document creates opportunities for direct collaboration in the areas of human rights protection, lawmaking, digitalization, anti-corruption expertise, juvenile justice, intellectual property protection, arbitration, and the provision of legal assistance in family and civil matters.
