Uzbekistan and Germany Discuss Financial and Technical Cooperation Ahead of 2026 Negotiations
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 8 October, intergovernmental consultations were held at the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the Federal Republic of Germany on financial and technical cooperation.
The meeting was co-chaired by Deputy Minister Shokhrukh Gulyamov and Karolina Probst, representative of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
During the discussions, both sides reviewed the current state and prospects of bilateral partnership, reaffirming the strategic nature of Uzbek-German relations.
It was noted that the overall project portfolio with KfW Bank includes 33 initiatives totaling 3.8 billion euros, including 280 million euros in grant funding, while cooperation with GIZ supports reforms in public administration, education, and climate resilience.
Special attention was given to improving the efficiency of project approval and implementation procedures. The Uzbek side welcomed Germany’s initiative to streamline these processes.
The consultations also confirmed priority areas for cooperation in sustainable development, vocational education, healthcare, social protection, and green energy.
Following the meeting, it was decided to begin preparations for the 2026 government-level negotiations, marking a new phase in Uzbek-German partnership.
