Uzbekistan and Germany discuss expanding economic ties
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and Germany have discussed prospects for expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation during talks held at the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan.
The meeting on April 10 brought together Deputy Minister Akram Aliev, Director General of the German Foreign Trade Chamber in Uzbekistan Malika Akramova, and Director of the Bureau of German-Uzbek Economic Cooperation Noyobjon Akhmadjonov.
During the discussions, the parties reviewed the current state of bilateral trade and investment relations and explored opportunities for further expansion. Particular attention was given to attracting German companies to participate in joint projects in priority sectors of Uzbekistan’s economy.
The meeting also focused on preparations for the 10th session of the German-Uzbek Business Council. Within its framework, the “Days of German Economy” are planned to be held in Tashkent. Participants confirmed mutual interest in strengthening business ties and expanding partnership cooperation.
In 2025, bilateral trade between Uzbekistan and Germany reached US$1,427.7 million, marking a 13.2% increase.
Investments totaled US$6.4 billion, while 221 enterprises with German capital are currently operating in Uzbekistan.
