Uzbekistan and Georgia Discuss Expansion of Cooperation in Transport and Logistics
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Makhkamov held talks with the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mariam Kvrivishvili.
During the meeting, the parties discussed key issues related to expanding bilateral cooperation in road and rail transport, as well as the development of international multimodal transport corridors using Georgia’s seaports.
Special attention was paid to the construction project of the “China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan” railway. Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov emphasized the importance of this project in the context of shaping a new Eurasian transport route and proposed that the Georgian side consider participating in the integration of this railway into the Middle Corridor, which connects China with Europe through Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Türkiye.
The parties also exchanged views on developing tourism potential, including the initiative to increase the number of direct flights between tourist centers in Uzbekistan and Georgia.
It was noted that enhanced transport connectivity would contribute to strengthening cultural, humanitarian, and business ties between the two countries.
