Uzbekistan and France Discuss Expansion of Interparliamentary Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted an online meeting between the interparliamentary cooperation groups of the Uzbek Senate and the Senate of the French Republic.

During the talks, the two sides discussed prospects for further expanding bilateral interparliamentary engagement and strengthening Uzbekistan–France relations. Participants noted that in recent years cooperation between the two countries has reached the level of a strategic partnership, driven by high-level visits and the implementation of important joint projects.

The delegations exchanged views on opportunities to deepen economic cooperation and enhance collaboration in key sectors. Particular attention was given to strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties. The sides underscored the importance of joint initiatives to restore cultural heritage sites and to broaden cooperation in education.

Growing interest in learning the French language was highlighted, along with the steady expansion of academic partnerships between universities in both countries. The parties also proposed measures to boost tourism exchanges, including the organization of joint tourism forums and cultural events.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the sides agreed to ensure systematic work between the interparliamentary groups, to hold joint sessions at least once a year, and to organize the next meeting in Uzbekistan.
