Uzbekistan and e& Discuss the Development of Telecommunications Infrastructure and Digital Services
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 5 February, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov held a meeting with a delegation from e& (Etisalat And), officially Emirates Telecommunications Group Company PJSC, from the United Arab Emirates. The company serves 189 million subscribers and operates in 38 countries worldwide.
During the talks, the parties discussed prospects for the development of telecommunications infrastructure in Central Asia and the Middle East, as well as opportunities for technological and infrastructure integration. Particular attention was paid to Uzbekistan’s strategic role as a regional hub for cooperation.
The e& delegation presented information on the company’s global operations, its experience in international markets, and priority areas in telecommunications and digital services.
Minister Shermatov highlighted the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan to modernize telecommunications infrastructure, accelerate digital transformation, and create favorable conditions for international investors.
As part of the visit, the guests familiarized themselves with the activities of IT Park and the projects implemented by the Unified Integrator UZINFOCOM. Uzbekistan’s achievements in introducing digital solutions in public administration and service delivery were presented, along with key objectives aimed at transforming the country into a regional and international IT hub.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the sides reaffirmed their readiness to develop mutually beneficial cooperation, implement joint initiatives and projects, and continue dialogue aimed at strengthening regional digital connectivity.
