Uzbekistan and CNPC Discuss New Projects in the Oil and Gas Sector

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 31 October, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan with a delegation from the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), led by Chairman Dai Houlan.

The meeting was attended by Uzbekistan’s Minister of Energy, Zhurabek Mirzamahmudov, CNPC Chairman Dai Houlan, and executives from key enterprises in the country’s oil and gas sector.

The parties emphasized that Uzbekistan-China relations are steadily developing across all areas, including the energy sector, and are reaching the level of a strategic partnership. Particular attention was given to the outcomes of the meeting between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the CNPC Chairman on 2 September 2025 in Beijing, which facilitated a qualitative advancement of bilateral cooperation.

During the discussions, prospective areas of collaboration were addressed, including the construction of the Central Asia–China gas pipeline, development of gas condensate fields in the Bukhara region, construction of an underground gas storage facility, exploration of new fields, and training of qualified personnel for the oil and gas industry.

 Both sides noted the importance of continuing joint work to strengthen energy security and the technological capacity of the sector.
