Uzbekistan and China to Launch “Green” Energy Project at Cement Plant in Namangan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of the “Uzbekistan–China (Shenzhen) Trade, Economic and Investment Forum,” the governor of Namangan region, Shavkatjon Abdurazzoqov, held talks with He Weishuai, CEO of Sinoma Hefei Cement Research & Design Institute Corporation Ltd.

The parties discussed industrial modernization and the implementation of renewable energy sources. Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to carry out a joint “green” energy project at the Namangan Cement plant, with a total investment of US$43 million and a capacity of 60 megawatts. The investment agreement has already been signed.

A 25-hectare site in the hilly area of Chust District has been allocated for the construction of the facility.

Once operational, up to 80% of the plant’s electricity needs are expected to be met from renewable sources.

The project, scheduled for completion in September 2026, aims to enhance energy efficiency, implement green technologies, and ensure the environmental sustainability of the region.
