Uzbekistan and China Sign Memorandum on Training Electric Vehicle Specialists

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and China are stepping up cooperation in the field of training specialists in electric vehicle maintenance.

A Chinese delegation headed by Xu Peiying, Vice President of the Nanchang Transport College in Jiangxi Province, visited Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Poverty Reduction and Employment.

The main goal of the visit was to advance vocational education by preparing highly qualified personnel in the field of electric vehicles, teaching modern maintenance and repair skills, and integrating international standards into training programs.

As part of joint projects, plans include establishing an “ElectroCar Hub” Vocational Skills Center in Bekabad district, launching specialized EV maintenance courses with the participation of Chinese experts, introducing workplace-based learning, upgrading teacher qualifications, and involving students in national and international skills competitions. The center will also be open to students from other Central Asian countries, thereby fostering broader regional cooperation.

Following the visit, the two sides signed a bilateral memorandum of understanding. Earlier, in 2024, an Uzbek delegation completed an internship in Jiangxi Province under the program “Repair and Maintenance of Electric Vehicles.”

During that program, a new curriculum was developed, and ten Vocational Skills Centers in Uzbekistan were equipped with modern facilities with support from the World Bank.
