Uzbekistan and China discuss energy projects
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In Beijing on 26 August 2019, the fifth meeting of the Subcommittee on cooperation in the field of energy was held in preparation for the meeting of the Uzbek-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee on Cooperation. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The ongoing implementation of these activities contributes to the expansion and deepening of cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the People’s Republic of China.
The parties noted that energy cooperation between the two countries is constructive and is developing on the basis of mutual benefit. The parties have already achieved a number of results in this area; there are also significant opportunities for their further expansion.
The sides expressed their willingness to cooperate in the development of industry standards in the field of solar energy and the establishment of appropriate testing laboratories in Uzbekistan by attracting leading Chinese companies and sharing experiences.
In addition, the parties considered the prospects and main issues of cooperation in the oil and gas, coal, electric power, natural uranium and renewable energy sources.
An agreement was reached on expanding cooperation in the field of petrochemistry, advanced processing of raw materials and production of value-added products, and localization of production.
Decisions were made to intensify work by organizing meetings at the expert level and detailed elaboration of promising projects.
During the meeting, in order to develop cooperation in the field of renewable energy sources, the Uzbek side concluded a memorandum of understanding with ChinaCAMCEngineeringCo.Ltd and China National Environmental Protection Group companies on the feasibility of implementing an environmental project to generate electricity by burning household waste in the Namangan region of Uzbekistan.
The project will be implemented with direct investment of Chinese companies.
The parties will support companies in Uzbekistan and China in the implementation of relevant projects on economically advantageous conditions.
Following the meeting of the Subcommittee on Cooperation in the field of energy, an agreement was reached on holding the next meeting in Tashkent.
