Uzbekistan and China Discuss Cooperation in Green Economy and Environmental Protection
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 9 January 2026, a working meeting was held in Tashkent between Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Uzbekistan Yu Xun and Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Umid Abidhadjaev.
The discussion also involved Sun Yang, Economic and Trade Advisor at the Chinese Embassy, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Economy and Finance Shukhrat Matkarimov, Head of Department Shohzod Islamov, Director of the “Green Economy” Project Center Temur Malik Narzikulov, and other officials.
The talks focused on bilateral cooperation prospects in ecology, sustainable development, and the green economy.
The parties discussed the development of environmentally oriented projects, implementation of innovative approaches to environmental protection, measures to reduce air pollution, accelerate greening efforts, and improve ecological conditions.
Special attention was given to land degradation and desertification, soil fertility preservation, and rational use of natural resources.
The Chinese side shared successful experiences from similar projects in northwestern China, including Gansu Province, and technologies for sand-fixation grids and their impact on improving environmental conditions in desert and semi-desert zones.
The meeting also explored ways to enhance the efficiency of economic initiatives and develop sustainable institutional solutions based on international best practices.
As a result, both sides agreed to continue cooperation and exchange expertise to implement joint projects in the green economy and environmentally sustainable development.
