Uzbekistan and China are discussing new gas deal

The source notes that negotiations are at an early stage, and it’s unclear whether it will be a long-term contract for several years or only for 2017.

"The question of the duration of the agreement is closely linked to the formula, based on which the price for gas will be formed and the volume of supply. So there is no clarity on the terms," the source said.

"Uzbekistan has increased the supply of gas to China over the past two years. I do not think that the preparation of a new agreement will have serious problems. Our countries have strategic relations", the source underlined.
