Uzbekistan and Chile discuss development of trade-economic ties

The event was organized within the visit of the delegation of Chile led by Ambassador of Chile to Uzbekistan Juan Eduardo Eguiguren Guzman to Uzbekistan. The visit will last till 4 May 2014.

During the seminar, the participants familiarized with economic and investment opportunities of Uzbekistan and Chile. The participants also considered cooperation in such spheres as trade, tourism, investments and others.

Ambassador of Chile with residence in Moscow Juan Eduardo Eguiguren Guzman said that the business seminar with participation of business circles of Uzbekistan and Chile was organized for the first time. He said that it was held to raise awareness of Uzbekistan about Chile and study opportunities of Uzbekistan to present them to Chilean entrepreneurs.

Diplomat said that Chile hopes to open its trade office in Uzbekistan to develop mutual beneficial cooperation among business circles of two nations.

Within the visit, the delegation of Chile visited Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Trade and Investment, Ministry of Culture and Sport Affairs, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, etc.

It is worth to mention that trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Chile was US$301,300 in 2013, of which exports of Uzbekistan was US$136,600 and imports – US$164,700.

Chile supplies oil seeds and fruits, non-organic chemistry products, potash fertilizers, rubber products to Uzbekistan. At the same time, the country imports cotton yarn and products from them, as well as services from Uzbekistan.
