Uzbekistan and Brazil Agree to Strengthen Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 11 December, Sodik Safoev, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, met with Suzan Kleebank, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil.

The discussion focused on the prospects for bilateral relations and inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Both sides highly appreciated the reforms in Uzbekistan, the country’s economic development, the investment climate, and the professionalism of its personnel. Special attention was given to political consultations, trade and economic cooperation, investment opportunities, and environmental protection issues.

The parties discussed the activities of the Oliy Majlis friendship group with Brazil and the possibility of establishing a similar group in the Brazilian Parliament.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to actively develop inter-parliamentary ties, organize online meetings between parliamentarians, and plan a visit of a delegation from the National Congress of Brazil to Uzbekistan.
