Uzbekistan and Belarus’ Gomel Region Expand Industrial Ties
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 24 March, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, met with Ivan Krupko, Chairman of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee of Belarus, during the visit of the Gomel region delegation to Uzbekistan.
The meeting focused on expanding cooperation in priority sectors, including industrial engineering, agriculture, and the jewelry industry. Special attention was given to new joint projects in woodworking, production of meat and dairy products, and agricultural machinery.
The parties noted the growth of mutual trade: in 2025, trade turnover between the Gomel region and Uzbekistan reached US$50 million, with January 2026 figures showing a 1.5-fold increase compared to the same period last year.
By the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached to develop a joint Action Plan for deepening cooperation and to organize a visit of the Uzbek delegation to Belarus to further elaborate on new initiatives.
