Uzbekistan and BAT Uzbekistan discussed prospects for long-term cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 13 May 2025, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Minister of Economy and Finance, Jamshid Kuchkorov, held a meeting with representatives of the "BAT Uzbekistan" delegation.
The delegation included: Regional Director for Pakistan, the Middle East, North Africa, the Caucasus, and Central Asia, Wael Sabri; General Director of "O’ZBAT A.O." Temur Gadaibayev; Director of Corporate Affairs for BAT APMEA West Mona Iskanderani; Director of Legal and Corporate Affairs for "BAT Uzbekistan" Sergey Krasovsky; and Corporate Affairs Consultant for the General Director of "O’ZBAT A.O." Alisher Bekkulbekov.
On the Uzbek side, the meeting was attended by the First Deputy Chairman of the State Tax Committee, Mubin Mirzaev; Head of the Alcohol and Tobacco Market Regulation Inspection at the Department for Combating Economic Crimes of the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Utkir Kabilov; and representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
The main topic of discussion was long-term cooperation and strategic initiatives for business development in Uzbekistan. During the meeting, representatives of the international company highly praised the changes taking place in the country, noting the successes in improving the business climate and creating favorable conditions for foreign investors.
"BAT Uzbekistan" is part of the international company "British American Tobacco" (BAT), founded in the UK, and holds a leading position in the tobacco market of Uzbekistan. The company began its operations in the country in 1994 and continues its activities to this day.
The company’s leadership emphasized the strategic importance of Uzbekistan as a key market in Central Asia and expressed readiness for further long-term cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue working together to develop a constructive dialogue and mutually beneficial cooperation.
