Uzbekistan and Afghanistan Sign US$400M Trade Deals
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and Afghanistan have signed 20 trade agreements totaling more than US$400 million, marking a significant step in expanding economic cooperation between the two nations.
The agreements were reached during a high-level business meeting held in the Ferghana region as part of an official visit by an Afghan trade delegation. The event featured participation from private sector representatives from both countries.
The finalized deals cover key industries, including the textile industry, the raw materials sector, pharmaceuticals, and several other areas.
The Afghan delegation was led by Zalgai Azimi, the Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Investment. The group included business representatives such as Abdullah Rahimi, Said Ahmad Nurzad, Obaidullah Hotak, and Deputy Executive Director Mirzaman Popal.
Both parties emphasized the importance of developing cross-border trade and establishing sustainable, long-term commercial ties.
As part of the visit, the delegation also toured several large industrial enterprises in the Fergana region, where they observed the region's production potential and discussed prospects for future collaboration.
