Uzbekistan and Afghanistan Sign Electricity Supply Agreement for 2026
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 17 November, the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan, Jurabek Mirzamahmudov, met with a delegation led by Abdul Bori Umar, General Director of the Afghan company DABS. The meeting was attended by executives and responsible representatives of Uzbekistan’s energy companies.
During the talks, it was noted that the initiatives of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, presented in September at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly and at the VII Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States, are aimed at supporting the welfare of the Afghan people and the development of Afghanistan’s economy, thereby further strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The parties discussed the implementation of large-scale energy projects, including the current status of construction of high-voltage power lines and substations in Afghanistan, as well as measures to accelerate the completion of these works.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was signed for the supply of electricity from Uzbekistan to Afghanistan for 2026, ensuring stable energy provision and reinforcing mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
