Uzbekistan and Afghanistan Discuss Expansion of Pharmaceutical Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Director of the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency Abdullah Azizov, held talks in Kabul with Afghanistan’s Deputy Prime Minister for Social Affairs Abdul Salam Hanafi.

During the meeting, the sides discussed expanding cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector, including increasing imports of medicines and medical products. It was noted that Afghanistan’s pharmaceutical market is estimated at around US$1 billion, with Uzbek manufacturers well-positioned to supply high-quality and affordable medicines.

Particular attention was given to the high level of trust in Uzbek pharmaceutical products and the need to further deepen bilateral cooperation.

The discussions also covered prospects for establishing partnerships with Afghan enterprises, implementing joint projects, and organizing systematic pharmaceutical imports.
