Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 23 May, an Uzbek-Afghan business forum was held at the Educational Center for the Training of Afghan Citizens in Termez city of the Surkhandarya region, which was attended by representatives of the Uztekstilprom Association.

The official opening ceremony of the business forum was attended by the leadership of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the khokimiyat of the Surkhandarya region. The delegation of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan was represented by the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Mukkadas Yurish.

After the opening ceremony, a visit to the trade exposition (showroom) of industry enterprises was held, in which the Association enterprises took part. Exposure area exceeded 60m2.

In the existing pavilions there were more than three hundred types of textile, leather and footwear, food, pharmaceutical, construction, automotive products of domestic production.

Within the framework of the exposition, representatives of the Uztextileprom Association, together with the Uzbekupagi Association, presented a wide range of products from various manufacturers (from silk fabrics to finished sewing, knitwear and hosiery).

Further, a business forum was held in the building of the training center with the participation of the heads of delegations and business circles of the two countries. During the event, representatives of the Association held a presentation of the investment, production and export potential of the textile industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In the framework of the business forum, B2B meetings were organized, during which negotiations were held with the participation of representatives of Choragon Textile LLC (Surkhandarya region) and Ajmin Mashal Co.Ltd. (Republic of Afghanistan).

In 2018, US$7.3 million of foreign investment was used in Surkhandarya region with the attraction of Afghan capital, for the past period of this year foreign investment in the amount of US$6.6 million was attracted. About 144 enterprises with Afghan capital are functioning in the region.

At the same time, representatives of the Association "Uztextileprom" visited a number of textile enterprises in the city of Termez, where they discussed issues of meeting the parameters of production and export of textile products.

For foreign partners, a familiarization visit to the company in the Jarkurgan district of Surkhandarya region was organized and samples of products were transferred.

Following the visit, the Afghan side expressed readiness to further expand bilateral cooperation in the textile sector.
