Uzbekistan Airways Updates Software on All Airbus A320/321 Aircraft Following Emergency Directive
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan Airways has completed software modifications on all Airbus A320/321 ceo/neo aircraft in full compliance with an emergency Airworthiness Directive (AD) issued by Airbus.
On 28 November 2025, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) issued a directive requiring an update to the software of one of the onboard computers (ELAC) to eliminate a hardware vulnerability triggered by intense solar radiation. The deadline for implementation was only 24 hours.
Technical specialists of Uzbekistan Airways promptly developed and executed an update plan covering the airline’s entire fleet of A320/321 ceo/neo aircraft. As of 29 November 2025, the modification has been completed, with final checks and the completion of all procedures expected by 23:00 Tashkent time.
The swift implementation of the directive demonstrates the high level of qualification of the airline’s technical personnel and Uzbekistan Airways’ commitment to international safety standards. The airline guarantees that flights are operated only on aircraft fully compliant with airworthiness requirements.
Earlier, due to the critical vulnerability of onboard computers — which could trigger a rapid loss of altitude under solar radiation — flights to Kazakhstan, the United States, Japan, Colombia, Australia, and other countries were cancelled.
