Uzbekistan Airways Signs Contract for Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner Aircraft

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan Airways has announced the acquisition of new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, the airline’s press service reports.

Uzbekistan Airways and Boeing have signed the national carrier’s largest-ever contract for the delivery of modern long-haul Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, marking a new stage in the development of Uzbekistan’s civil aviation sector.

The airline has not disclosed the details of the deal, noting that more comprehensive information will be provided in the near future.

Earlier it was reported that Uzbekistan Airways’ long-term plans include the acquisition of 14 wide-body Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, valued at approximately $2 billion. The delivery of the new Dreamliners is scheduled for the period from 2029 to 2032.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is a family of twin-engine, wide-body, long-range passenger aircraft developed by the American company Boeing as a replacement for the Boeing 767. It is the first passenger aircraft in Boeing’s history to make extensive use of composite materials in its construction.

In a two-class configuration, the 787-9 can carry between 250 and 330 passengers, depending on the layout. The capacities of the 787-8 and 787-9 models are comparable to the Boeing 767, while the larger 787-10 offers a capacity similar to the Boeing 777-200.

The new aircraft will enable Uzbekistan Airways to expand its international routes and enhance passenger comfort on long-haul flights.
