Uzbekistan Airways and IATA discuss development of cooperation
During the negotiations, the regional manager of IATA suggested considering the ratification of the Montreal Convention of 1999 as a more modern and perfect legal basis for unifying the issues of determining the limits of airlines’ liability to passengers, which would allow them to compete on an equal footing with the airlines of other countries that have ratified this convention.
The parties discussed the creation of a regional representation of the international settlement system for aviation transport in the Billing and Settlement Plan (BSP) in Uzbekistan, as well as modernization of the country’s airports through the provision of advisory services and organization of staff training in IATA courses.
The sides shared their views on impact of civil aviation on development of tourism in the region and need to form regional directions in this regard to better meet demand in tourist routes.
The IATA delegation proposed to hold an international conference in Uzbekistan in 2018, dedicated to the impact of civil aviation on national economies in the region.
Following the talks, it was decided to develop and agree on a joint action plan between the Uzbekistan Airways and IATA for 2018-2019.
