Uzbekistan Airports violated competition legislation in bidding announcement

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - In the competitive bidding announced by Uzbekistan Airports JSC for insurance of civil liability of the employer, life and health of rescuers, dangerous objects, machines and mechanisms, as well as other objects in the activities of airports, the requirements of the Law “On competition" were violated. This was reported by the press service of the Antimonopoly Committee.

In particular, the announcement posted by the company contained a requirement to participate in the competition of insurance companies with more than 50 percent of the state share. As a result, it limited the participation of other insurance companies.

Article 14 of the Law on Competition prohibits the provision of preferential terms to one or more bidders. In this connection, the Antimonopoly Committee issued an order to Uzbekistan Airports JSC to eliminate violated requirements of the Law.

As a result, Uzbekistan Airports JSC removed the requirement to bid only enterprises with more than 50 percent state share and announced a new tender in which all insurance companies can participate.
