Uzbekistan Airports Unveils Reconstruction Plan for the Arrival Square at Tashkent International Airport

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan Airports has presented a comprehensive plan to reconstruct the square in front of the arrival terminal at Tashkent International Airport. The project aims to enhance passenger and visitor comfort and streamline taxi operations.

As part of the project, the façade of the arrival hall will be extended forward to increase terminal space, and an additional overpass will be constructed. The existing overpass will continue to serve tourist buses and official airport taxis.

Passengers will have access to several licensed taxi operators offering services at different price points, from budget to business class. According to Uzbekistan Airports representatives, this will create a fair transport market and make airport transfers more accessible.

The new overpass will be designated for ride-hailing taxis and pick-up vehicles. Stops on the lanes will be limited to ten minutes, and surveillance cameras will automatically record any violations of the time limit. Integration with the Ministry of Internal Affairs system will allow fines to be issued to violators, similar to the cameras at the departure terminal overpass.

The reconstruction will be carried out in phases to keep the terminal operational. By the end of October, a double overpass and a 330-space parking lot with fast-charging stations for electric vehicles are planned to open. In the next phase, the merging of departure and arrival terminals will allow for longer and wider access lanes, reducing congestion.

The company’s press service noted that the current situation at the arrival zone is characterized by chaotic parking, unlicensed carriers, and constant traffic jams, causing inconvenience for passengers and visitors. The reconstruction aims to organize traffic flows and create modern service conditions.

The first phase of the arrival hall reconstruction was completed in June 2025: extending the façade increased the terminal area by 2,100 square meters, expanded the customs zone, and created a 120-person waiting area for visitors.
