Uzbekistan aims to boost IT exports to US$1 billion

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan plans to increase its IT sector exports to US$1 billion by 2025, as announced during President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s dialogue with the country’s youth.

Special emphasis is being placed on youth development, recognizing them as the driving force of the industry.

As part of this initiative, an additional 300,000 young people will be involved in the "One Million Programmers" project. Additionally, over 3,000 courses in Uzbek will be launched on Coursera, using artificial intelligence to enhance accessibility.

This year, the "Heirs of Muhammad al-Khwarizmi" program will be expanded to Karakalpakstan, reaching 1,000 more young talents.

Uzbekistan has also partnered with the United Arab Emirates to implement the "One Million AI Users" project. The Ministry of Digital Technologies has been assigned to oversee its execution.

In 2023, 25,000 women received free IT training, and this year, the initiative aims to double that number. Furthermore, 1,000 gifted girls will undergo specialized training for international IT competitions in dedicated tech camps.

Artificial intelligence technologies will be leveraged for early identification of youth interests and needs, helping them monetize their potential and engage in socially significant projects. Responsible agencies have been instructed to develop a long-term strategy for creating a digital social ecosystem.
