Uzbekistan, AIIB discuss implementation of joint projects

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 28 August, Beijing hosted a meeting between Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov and President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Jin Liqun.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the implementation of joint projects and discussed the possibility of accelerating the pace of implementation of existing agreements.

In particular, significant progress was made in approving projects to improve the infrastructure of the Bukhara region, and various approaches and mechanisms for financing new projects in the Republic of Karakalpakstan were studied.

Moreover, the Uzbek side put forward a medium-term program of cooperation with AIIB, on a systematic basis, covering a wide range of interaction on infrastructure projects.

As a result of the discussion, a plan of further actions on the issues discussed was agreed, according to which the working groups of the AIIB and the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade will continue intensive work.
