Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Zoir Mirzaev, Governor of Tashkent Region, held a meeting with a delegation from the Afghan Business Council, led by Afghan entrepreneur Said Muhammad Karim Khoshimi.

During the talks, the parties examined prospects for expanding trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, as well as strengthening interregional links and implementing new investment initiatives.

It was noted that bilateral collaboration is steadily developing not only in trade but also in sectors such as transportation and logistics, industry, agriculture, energy, construction, and pharmaceuticals.

According to data presented, mutual trade between the two countries reached US$1.68 billion in 2025, with exports totaling US$1.53 billion and imports US$144 million. Measures are being taken to increase this figure by nearly 50 percent compared to the previous year.

The meeting also included an overview of major companies operating in the Afghan market, including the Sayyed Karim Group of Companies, active in industry, logistics, and energy. Afghan business representatives presented initiatives in oil and gas, mining, transport and logistics, and manufacturing sectors.

By the end of the talks, both sides confirmed their interest in fostering direct contacts between entrepreneurs, establishing joint ventures, improving logistics chains, and further expanding trade volumes. Concrete measures were agreed upon to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation and promote interregional economic integration.

The Tashkent regional delegation was invited to visit Afghanistan for a reciprocal visit.
