Uzbekistan, Afghanistan Discuss Expansion of Pharma Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A working meeting took place in Kabul between a delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Abdullah Azizov, Director of the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry, and the leadership of Afghanistan’s Food and Drug Administration (AFDA).

The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector and addressing challenges faced when exporting Uzbek products to the Afghan market.

One of the main issues highlighted was the lengthy registration process for medicines in Afghanistan. Abdullah Azizov proposed measures to simplify procedures and reduce the time required for registration.

The parties also discussed initiatives such as creating a demonstration showroom to promote Uzbek pharmaceutical products, involving local producers in Afghan government procurements and tenders, implementing joint projects, and increasing export volumes.

Plans include establishing cooperation with major Afghan distributors, expanding the range of promoted pharmaceutical products, and forming a joint technical working group to coordinate projects.

Both sides stressed the importance of regular information exchange, prompt resolution of ongoing issues, and long-term strengthening of bilateral cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector.
