Uzbekistan Advances Next-Generation Public-Private Partnership Projects in the Transport Sector

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The third roundtable on public-private partnerships (PPP) focused on attracting private capital to the transport sector was held in Tashkent.

Deputy Minister of Transport Jasurbek Choriyev emphasized that the sustainable development of the country’s transport system is impossible without active participation from private investors.

The main objective of the event was to establish transparent and mutually beneficial PPP mechanisms, ensuring long-term cooperation between the government, investors, operators, and financial institutions.

During the meeting, participants were presented with large-scale projects covering key areas of transport infrastructure. In the aviation sector, discussions focused on the construction of the new “New Tashkent” International Airport and the modernization of regional airports. In road transport, plans were shared for the implementation of toll highways between Tashkent – Andijan and Tashkent – Samarkand. For rail transport, a high-speed Tashkent – Samarkand line was presented, which will reduce travel time to 90 minutes and provide convenient access to the future new airport in the capital.

Jasurbek Choriyev noted that Uzbekistan is creating a modern, convenient, and transparent investment environment, opening new opportunities for private investors in aviation, railways, and road construction.

These next-generation projects are aimed at increasing the efficiency of the transport system, developing regional infrastructure, and creating a sustainable investment climate in the country.
