Uzbekistan adopts measures on improving order of foreign visits of officials

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a resolution “On measures on improving order of visits of officials to foreign countries” on 5 March 2014.

The document was adopted to improve order of visits of officials to foreign countries, improve efficiency of business trips, ensure national safety and protect state secrets of Uzbekistan.

The resolution approved list of officials, who should agree their visits to abroad with the President of Uzbekistan.

The document approved list of officials, who should agree their visits to abroad with the Cabinet of Ministers, and another list of officials, who should agree their visits to abroad with the corresponding service of the Office of the President of Uzbekistan.

The resolution recalled that in line with the law of Uzbekistan “On protection of the state secrets” rights of people, who works or worked with state and military secrets, can be limited in line with their written permission.

The resolution said that people, who have knowledge on state and military secrets, can visit foreign countries after agreement in line with the set order.

President recommended Senate and Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan to develop and approve an order of foreign visits of the members of Senate and Legislative Chamber, as well as their offices.

The Government of Uzbekistan was entrusted to develop a rules of organization of foreign trips of officials, which will include issues of organization of the visits, submission of reports on the result of the visits, rights and responsibilities of officials, protection of national interests of Uzbekistan, behavior of officials in foreign states, etc.

The heads of the state bodies and economic entities are responsible for validity, efficient organization and fruitfulness of the foreign visits, as well as targeted and rational use of resources, issued for foreing trips, as well as execution of this resolution, the document reads.

Uzbek leader entrusted Ministry of Justice with Supreme Court, Prosecutor-General’s Office, National Security Service, Ministry of Interior Affairs and Ministry of Foreign Affairs within a month to develop and submit to the Cabinet of ministers proposals on improving criminal and administrative responsibility for illegal foreign visits.
